If your situation necessitates utilizing donor sperm, The Kelowna Regional Fertility Centre can help you with the process. We will explain the various steps, help guide the selection process, and help you order the sperm. We will then receive and store the sperm until you are ready for treatment.

Donor sperm provides a treatment option for single female patients, same sex couples, or couples experiencing severe male factor infertility. Donor sperm insemination can be done with or without ovarian stimulation medications, depending on your situation. We recommend intrauterine insemination (IUI), where the donor sperm is placed directly into the uterus at the time of ovulation. Donor sperm can also be used to fertilize eggs in IVF.

The screening of sperm donors, as well as the processing and distribution of donor sperm for use in assisted reproduction, is strictly regulated by Health Canada. For further details, refer to the Health Canada website.
