01 June 2020

We are happy to see that B.C. has started lifting some restrictions and continues to keep the Covid19 curve quite flat! On this basis we have revisited our plan for KRFC patients and have decided to resume ALL FERTILITY TREATMENT cycles.  If you are waiting to start IVF, donor egg IVF or egg freezing please contact our nursing team so we can help you plan next steps. If you are waiting to start ovulation induction, IUI, donor sperm IUI or frozen embryo transfer please give us a call to arrange your nurse orientation or call with day 1 of your menstrual cycle if your orientation is already complete. Please note that we will need to be flexible with the timing of IUI cycles in order to maintain physical distancing protocols and safety. This means that the IUI timing may change for some patients but we will ensure it remains within the therapeutic ovulation window.

We are now able to book HSG procedures. Please be patient with this booking as we have a long wait list due to the pandemic back log. We continue to provide fertility consultations and follow up discussions through virtual care. Our general Covid19 safety measures are available for review on our website. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about your care, your safety or your treatment plan.

Dr. Henry reminds us that we need to keep our personal “bubble” small so please continue to focus on infection prevention with regular hand washing, physical distancing when possible, wearing a mask when necessary (including all clinic visits please) and staying home when you are sick.

Welcome back!

15 May 2020

We are moving in to “phase 2” in B.C. and slowly starting fertility treatment cycles again.  If you are waiting to start IVF and have not yet spoken to one of our nurses then please give us a call so we can help you plan next steps. We plan to start some IUI cycles in mid to late June. If you are a woman age 35 or over, and waiting to start IUI or donor sperm IUI, please give us a call so we can help plan your cycle. We will be starting slowly as we attempt to maintain physical distancing in our small clinic.

We continue to defer the following until July/August: ovulation induction and IUI for anyone under age 35, and embryo transfer cycles. Please remember that these are uncertain times and there is always a risk that our plans have to change if the pandemic worsens.

We continue to provide fertility consultations and follow up discussions through virtual care. Our nurses are staff are here to answer your questions or provide further support.

Please note that we now require all patients to wear a face mask (cloth mask is acceptable) to their office appointments.

Stay Healthy!

It has been very encouraging news in the last week in B.C. The province is starting to discuss ways to slowly open the economy.  As always, we have patient care and patient safety as our top priority. I am happy to announce that we are starting to offer some IVF cycles along side Olive Fertility in May. We plan to start slowly and cautiously with all Covid19 safety protocols in place. These will be mandatory embryo freeze cycles with no embryo transfers at this time. If you are waiting to start IVF and have not yet spoken to one of our nurses then please give us a call so we can help you plan next steps. Please remember that these are uncertain times and there is always a risk that our plans have to change if the pandemic worsens.

We continue to defer all non-IVF treatment cycles including ovulation induction, IUI, donor sperm IUI and embryo transfer cycles but we will keep a close eye on how things progress in May. It is my sincere hope that we can start these cycles by July or possibly sooner. I will continue to update every 2 weeks.

We acknowledge the stress and anxiety that this delay is causing our patients. We encourage you to reach out for help and support through our nurses and physicians. Remember that fertility consultations and follow up discussions are continuing through virtual care.

Stay Home;
Stay Healthy!

I hope everyone is staying home and staying healthy! I am very proud of B.C. and how we have handled this pandemic. We are succeeding in flattening the curve and we need to ensure we don’t let up our restrictions prematurely.

We continue to defer any fertility treatment cycles but we remain committed to reassessing this decision every 2 weeks. Our nursing team and administrative staff are available by phone or by email. Our lab continues to offer a detailed semen analysis by appointment only. Our physicians can connect with you by phone or telehealth for follow up discussion or new patient consultation. We are here to answer your questions and allay your concerns. The Covid19 restrictions WILL end and when they do, our team will be ready to work with you and get your treatment started.

Stay Home;
Stay Healthy!

01 April 2020

It is the start of a new month but we are still in the midst of the Covid19 pandemic and cases in our Province are just starting to peak. We continue to work together to protect our patients and our staff.  Our fertility treatment cycles are currently suspended including: ovulation induction, IUI, IVF, and embryo transfers. We are not currently scheduling any personal office visits. We do, however, continue to provide some essential ultrasound services for our pregnant patients. We are still available to help our patients as much as possible and we can answer your questions by phone or by email. Our  nurses are also available for questions you may have as well as video and phone orientations so that when we can move forward with your treatment you are ready to get started.

We can schedule a detailed semen analysis or sperm freeze by appointment only. Our doctors can provide phone call or telehealth consultations and follow up discussions.

Please feel free to contact us if you have questions during this difficult time.

Stay home and stay well.

Your KRFC team

20 March 2020

Although all our fertility treatment cycles are suspended during this difficult time we are happy to still provide telehealth/phone call consultations and follow ups.

We will continue to provide early obstetrical ultrasound for our patients. Our NT program, detailed semen analysis and sperm cryopreservation are available by appointment.

As always, please do NOT come to the clinic if you are sick. Please call to reschedule you’re appointment.

We sincerely hope that our patients, staff and community stay safe and healthy. We remain committed to helping flatten the Covid19 curve while still providing essential services.

Please check our website and Facebook page every 2 weeks for updates.

Kelowna Regional Fertility Centre is taking preventative measures to reduce the risk of the spread of the Coronavirus. We are transitioning to tele-health or phone call appointments for all patients who do not require a personal visit.

Please DO NOT come to clinic if you are unwell. If you are experiencing fever, runny nose, cough or sore throat please call us for some guidance and to reschedule.

Please do not bring anyone else (children, spouse, friend) with you to your appointment.

Most of our fertility treatments are currently on hold. We will no longer be doing IUI, IVF procedures or embryo transfers . Our goal is to reduce the risk to our patients, our staff and the population at large. This is not the ideal time to conceive given the uncertainty. Your health and safety is our number one priority and we appreciate your patience during this difficult time.
